Monthly Meetings

Topic: Presentation by Dr Norbert Harle (QUT); Welcome and planning

Dr Norbert Harle (of QUT) will be speaking about the Robotics conference he attended in Singapore last December.

There will also be discussion about the group's plans for the year and welcoming new members.

Topic: Presentation by Harry Shortt (Chair of SIG)

While in Europe, Harry visited Odense Steel Shipyard. They have embraced computer integrated robotisation (CIR), and Harry has been provided with a copy of their presentation on this.

CIR has been instrumental in the survival and growth of the shipyard - they build very large container ships and crude oil carriers.

Topic: Discuss and finalise competition rules

The rules for this year's Sumo and Racing competitions will be finalised. Also planned is general discussion of the competition and ideas for entrants.

Topic: Presentation by Dr Gordon Wyeth (UQ)

Dr Wyeth (UQ) will be presenting on his champion micromouse including design, software and sensor interfacing. This is a chance to get some real insight into many of the issues confronting us as we head towards the end of year competition.

Topic: Presentation by Dr Peter Corke (CSIRO)

Dr Peter Corke (from CSIRO) will be presenting on trends and discussing a robotic soccer competition he observed recently.

Topic: Info session about Hall Effect sensors by Paul Nielsen

Paul will talk about his experience with using a Hall Effect sensor on his Stock Car.

There will also (of course) be talk about the competition.
