Welcome to the homepage of the Brisbane Robotics Special Interest Group (SIG) of Queensland, Australia. We are supported by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). We are a mixed group of people who have a common interest in Autonomous Mobile Robots. No prior knowledge is assumed, and the aim of the group is to have fun!

BRISBANE ROBOTICS SIG ON HIATUS

We are currently not meeting at present for monthly meetings, due to external commitments of the founding members. Look to later in 2005 for a reforming of the SIG. Come back and check the events schedule page for more information!

The group has been growing and gaining experience for over six years. Some notable achievements:

  • Our last robotics competition was the Robot Challenge 2002-03, which was held at Griffith University in Mid 2003 during their open day.

This used to be an annual event, which will be held again maybe toward the later part of this year.

  • Some of the SIG members have built robots based on the Handy Board. Several working robots (including entrants in the competition) have been produced - these are now being expanded and refined for upcoming competions as well as other tasks.

  • Several robotics workshops have been held so far. These have been run at the various Universities around Brisane, and provided good experience with physically building and programming a real robot.

From this site you may read more about the SIG, check our events schedule, and browse our list of on-line robotics resources.
