Robot Challenge 2000

The Brisbane Robotics SIG is proud to bring you the Robot Challenge. The challenge WAS to be held at Griffith University Nathan Campus, on the 25th of November 2000 (just after uni exams). However NOW the competition will be held at the Queensland Sciencentre located at 110 George St, Brisbane. You must register your entry prior to the competition by sending an email to Aaron Dwyer. As an incentive of Queensland Sciencentre, those that mention the Robot Competition at reception on entry will be given a 50% discount on entry fees. Those that are competiting or have a club pass will gain free entry. You can check out all that the Sciencentre has to offer before and after the competition. There will be trophies for the first and second robots in each competition, and a medallion of participation plus certificate for each entrant. Timetable for the day: 11.00am Organisers arrive and set up tracks, etc 12.00pm Competitors can start calibration/testing on tracks 12.30pm Stock Car Derby 1.15pm Sumo Wrestling Events Note: To cover cost of prizes, it is a condition of entry that each robot entry pay a small fee (per robot). For financial members of the Brisbane Robotics SIG the fee is $3, others $10.   Stock Car Derby Four autonomous race cars at a time compete against each other for speed! Not only does each car have to give its best, it has to look out for the other competitors or else risk a pileup. 2000 Rules and Regulations Entrants for this year Sumo Wrestling Based on real Sumo Wrestling rules, your autonomous robot is required to locate and push, flip, roll, shove, throw, hurl, or otherwise remove the opposing robot from a 1.5m ring in the shortest period of time.
